Poetry
2013
If play and language are the most human activities,
then poetry reveals us at our most
human.
Goals-
The goals for this class are to read and write poetry. We will learn to read closely and analyze
poems using diverse tools. We will write
poetry using a writer’s workshop format, and eventually edit, collect and
publish poems. Poems will be defined

ways during the term.

Writer’s Group-
Despite the image of
the lonely tortured poet, most authors and artists share work with a trusted
group to get ideas, support and feedback.
Writers groups will meet physically and virtually to brainstorm, share
work in progress, and respond to finished poems.
Visiting Poets-
We will have four
visiting poets during the semester to share work and discuss process with
us.
